Andrew Ratcliffe

CEO/Recording Instructor

Andrew Ratcliffe and Tweed Recording were staples of the north Mississippi music scene for two decades, developing long-term relationships with musicians, whether local or not, that went beyond the microphones and amps. Some had names that ring out nationally and internationally, such as Jars of Clay, Jimbo Mathus, Will Hoge, Pokey LaFarge, American Aquarium, and Cedric Burnside. Others were Oxford favorites hoping to lay down their tracks for an EP or LP.

Athens’s reputation already precedes it. It has long been a go-to place for great music, and it has a scene that is ripe for making the most of Andrew’s experience and expertise in the studio and in the broader community. Tweed Recording may have been born and raised in Oxford and north Mississippi, but Athens and the state of Georgia stands to benefit from its fuller maturation into a school, recording center, and community for the arts.

What Our Students Are Saying

“The Saturday Session taught me how to do different things and how to experience different sounds that I’ve never heard before or used. I thought it was really, really cool!”

— Isaac

The program was much more difficult but in a good and challenging way. It asked me every day to be the best I could and high school and college did not do that for me.”

— Kyle

The strengths of this program are the real-world experience obtained from engineering in multiple sessions and earning credits from those sessions. The privilege to have access to such high quality equipment and such knowledgeable minds in the instructors to help your growth.”

— Liam
